Exchange students continue to pay their regular Ohio State tuition for the duration of their exchange program. A fee for the required supplemental health insurance will also be included. In addition, these students are also responsible for arranging and paying for international airfare, room and board, and all other living or personal expenses. Students are advised that payments for room and board will be in the local currency.
Tenri University offers estimates for monthly housing (room) and meal (board) expenses on its website. Reflected in the budget above are the quoted estimates for a student living in the most expensive dormitory option, which includes three meals a day. A student might also pursue a private apartment for approximately $457/month, exclusive of meals and deposits. The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) estimates monthly food expenditures ("board") at 28, 000 JPY or approximately $261/month, which should be factored into the private apartment estimate as well.
