Transformational Overseas Experience

During my undergraduate career, I spent a month abroad in Japan.  This experience led me to change not only my major, but also my life trajectory in then-unimaginable ways. Following graduation, I applied for and was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET Program), where I spent three amazing years living and working in and around Hiroshima, Japan.  Now, I have more friends and family around the globe than I ever would have imagined, and to this day I consider Japan my second home.  Helping students leave their comfort zones, challenge their expectations and preconceived notions, and engage with people from different backgrounds while embarking on safe and ethical international experiences is the most satisfying aspect of my career -- one which I would never have imagined pursing if it were not for my initial study abroad experience.
